Building Rural Resilience in Manipur through TEF and Rural Aid Services
Rural Aid Services (RAS) is a non-profit based in Happy Valley, Tuibong, Churachandpur, Manipur β with nearly three decades of experience in livelihoods, natural resource management, and community development.
Since May 2023, ethnic conflict has displaced over 80% of Kuki families in Churachandpur, disrupted farming, collapsed local markets, and created acute food insecurity. RAS is working across six conflict-affected villages to rebuild rural livelihoods from the ground up.
TEF supports a three-year livelihood initiative covering:
Horticulture β banana-litchi intercropping with seasonal vegetables, supporting dozens of farming families.
Sugarcane cultivation β meeting rising local demand for cane juice and raw cane.
Bokashi piggery β odourless, micro-organism-based piggery adopted by households, providing income and food security.
Community mobilisation β reviving Village Development Committees and Self-Help Groups, with capacity-building on sustainable farming, financial literacy, and disaster preparedness.
Expected outcomes include a significant increase in household income, higher school attendance, improved healthcare access, and a measurable increase in womenβs participation and leadership in community life.
RAS has a strong compliance record and active partnerships with NABARD, Azim Premji Foundation, and Bread for the World.
